Miodrag Kostić, founder of MK Group, was posthumously awarded the Order of Karađorđe's Star of the First Class for his exceptional contribution to the establishment of the Miodrag Kostić Endowment –the Palace of Science and the creation of an innovative center for the development of education, science, and support for young talents in the Republic of Serbia. The award was presented to his son, Aleksandar Kostić, President of MK Group, at the Palace of Serbia, on the occasion of Sretenje – Serbia's Statehood Day.
Miodrag Kostić will be remembered as an entrepreneur and philanthropist who set new standards in business and social responsibility. He personally initiated and followed a large number of socially responsible activities. By founding the Miodrag Kostić Endowment and opening the Palace of Science in Belgrade, he revived the forgotten tradition of philanthropy in Serbia and provided the best conditions for the development of future generations and the scientific-technological progress of Serbia. Every year, he allocated more than one million euros for socially responsible activities, and the Miodrag Kostić Endowment left a special mark, representing a philanthropic gift worth more than 25 million euros.
The Order of Karađorđe's Star is awarded by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Serbia, and this year, decorations were presented to deserving individuals and institutions on the occasion of
Serbia's Statehood Day.
