Centre for Hardware Signal Processing

When designing signal processing systems, it is necessary to take into account the compromise between energy consumption and operating speed. Specialised modules enable fast data flow with longer battery life in devices such as mobile phones and digital cameras.

What does the Centre do?

Every time you watch a video, play a game or simply communicate via mobile phone, various signal processing algorithms function in the background. These algorithms are often very complex and require a lot of processing power and energy. In our Centre, we develop special processors enabling fast data flow with a long battery life.

The algorithms we implement and the hardware we develop are applicable in all areas where signal processing is used. Telecommunications is an obvious example, but our systems are also applied in the non-contact monitoring of vital signs in medicine. Specialised processors for processing video signals and accelerating AI algorithms contain special hardware components that are key to their efficiency and performance.
