In this lecture, we will discuss the narratives that have dominated the world of science fiction. Although dystopian and post-apocalyptic narratives have been the most prominent in recent decades, new authors are emerging who focus on optimistic and utopian stories within science fiction. These authors, often referred to as solarpunk or hopepunk, pay less attention to technological progress and more to its sustainability. They also emphasize the importance of human solidarity and collective action in creating a brighter or at least sustainable future.
