Sharks: The terrifying beauty of the hunters from the sea depths

December 2024 - June 2025

In some they spark fear, in others awe, and in others still admiration!

Sharks are certainly impressive, as creatures 200 million years older than the dinosaurs that have survived mass extinctions during their evolution. They even withstood significant temperature changes in the distant past, which makes them extremely interesting to study in light of the current global climate warming.

If you want to discover scientific truths about sharks and dismiss misconceptions, do not miss this famous exhibition of the American Museum of Natural History, which is visiting the Palace of Science until June 2025. Fascinating video content, interactive exhibits, video games, expert lectures and specimens of real Adriatic sharks from the collection of the Natural History Museum in Belgrade await you!

The visiting exhibition “Sharks” is organized by the American Museum of Natural History in New York (amnh.org), with the support of Fundación Coppel A.C. The museum thanks Warner Bros. Discovery for its generous support of the “Sharks” exhibition. A selection of footage in the exhibition is provided from Discovery Shark Week. Warner Bros. The “Sharks” exhibition at the Palace of Science was created in collaboration with the Natural History
Museum in Belgrade, which provided original taxidermy specimens of sharks and rays from the southern
Adriatic. The exhibition’s expert collaborator is museum advisor, ichthyologist Dubravka Vučić.

Sharks have "milk" teeth, too?

The role of sharks, as ultimate predators in the food chain, is to catch and eat their fish prey with their teeth. That is why their teeth often fall out and sprout anew, so sharks can lose and replace tens of thousands of teeth during their lifetime!
