How Are Cities Becoming Smart?

To celebrate World Cities Day, we welcome Prof. Dejan Drajić, Head of the Center for Information Processing of Intelligent Objects, to discuss one of today’s most pressing topics: smart cities.

By 2030, approximately 60% of people will live in urban areas, with up to 60% of city residents being under the age of 18. By 2050, cities are expected to be home to 70% of the world’s population, facing unprecedented social and climate challenges. How can cities possibly respond to these issues?

Prof. Drajić will guide us through the concept of smart cities that measure, manage, and learn. Drawing on the knowledge and experience from projects he has participated in, you will learn what it means to have smart measuring instruments, infrastructure and traffic sensors, security systems, and network connectivity. You’ll also discover how massive amounts of data are collected, analyzed, and used for critical decision-making.

Join us to explore how technology can make our cities more sustainable, safer, and more comfortable places to live.

The lecture will be held in the Room for Seminars and Workshops Word.
