In modern society and modern economy, the applications of artificial intelligence and information technologies in biomedical and genetic research, precision medicine and pharmacology are the carriers of innovative processes, economic development and improvement of the quality of life and health, both in our country and in the world.
Rapid technological advances in methods such as next-generation sequencing, single-cell omics, high-throughput techniques, and large-scale clinical studies are generating vast amounts of biodata. Various bioinformatics algorithms and tools are necessary for their analysis and interpretation. Bioinformatics as a discipline plays a key role in the analysis and integration of this data, enabling a deeper understanding of biological systems and diseases.
As part of this lecture, the Master 4.0 Bioinformatics master study program will be presented, proposed by a consortium of institutions: the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Chemistry, the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Dental Medicine, the University of Belgrade and the Institute of Oncology and Radiology of Serbia.
The program won first place in the Public Call for the selection of master study programs with accompanying short study programs – Master 4.0 Bioinformatics, announced by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia, and the enrollment of the first generation of students is expected from the school year 2026/2027.
