Return to the Moon: From Apollo to Artemis

Povratak-na-Mesec

What does a moment look like when history is being written once again?

At a time when humanity, after more than 50 years, is preparing for a major return to space, the Science Center invites you to an inspiring lecture by astronomy communicator, Branko Simonović.

The lecture will take place on February 6, just ahead of the launch of the historic Artemis II mission, scheduled between February 6 and 11. This will be the first crewed mission of NASA’s Artemis program, during which four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft will fly around the Moon and return safely to Earth. It will also mark the farthest distance humans have ever traveled into space, surpassing the achievements of the legendary Apollo missions and breaking a record that has stood for more than half a century.

During the lecture, the audience will be taken on a fascinating journey through the evolution of space exploration — from the first steps on the lunar surface during the Apollo era to the modern Artemis program, which is paving the way for humanity’s return to the Moon and future missions to Mars.

Following the lecture, using the Digistar system in the Science Center Planetarium, Branko Simonović will guide visitors on an unforgettable virtual journey to the Moon, revealing its craters, seas, and mountains, and offering insight into why our natural satellite is once again in the spotlight — and how close we truly are to the next “small step” for humankind.
