Humans inevitably change their environment, consciously or unconsciously, while it, in turn, shapes their behavior. Throughout history, the relationship between humans and nature has influenced the development of civilizations, particularly in the exploitation of natural resources.
In this lecture, Dr. Adam Crnobrnja, an experienced archaeologist and researcher, will explore how geography and mineral resources have shaped human communities over the centuries. Special attention will be given to the exploitation of ores on Mount Kosmaj, where an estimated 4,800 tons of silver and 60,000 tons of lead were extracted in antiquity.
By analyzing past human behaviors, we will uncover the complex and often underexplored story of the mutual influence between nature and humanity—from ancient times to the present.
Join us as we explore how deeply nature has shaped us and whether we are doing enough to preserve the natural and cultural heritage entrusted to us!
The lecture will be held in Reč Hall.
