How do humpback whales sing – and what can their songs reveal about life in the ocean?
Join the lecture by Divna Đokić, a postdoctoral researcher in Brazil, and step into the fascinating world of bioacoustics!
In the first part of the lecture, Divna will share insights from her years-long research into the songs of humpback whales – their vocal communication, cultural patterns, and the ways they “sing” across the ocean depths.
In the second part, she will present Raven, a software developed at Cornell University (USA) within the K. Lisa Yang Center for Conservation Bioacoustics. This specialized tool is used for recording and analyzing sounds from nature – from whales, birds, and frogs to insects – offering a deeper understanding of the acoustic landscapes that surround us.
