Gallery S.E.F. Opens at the Palace of Science with the Exhibition “Memory Bank”: Stories Await You in the Vaults

BANKA SECANJA

At the Palace of Science – Miodrag Kostić Endowment, the exhibition “Memory Bank” has opened as a new segment of the permanent display within Gallery S.E.F.

Gallery S.E.F. is conceived as a meeting point of science, art, and collective memory. Located in the former bank vault, it symbolizes the transformation of what a society considers worthy of preservation.

“Since every exhibit and activity in the Palace of Science must have a scientific foundation, the Memory Bank is not only an opportunity to hear and learn about intriguing historical episodes, but also to experience listening with the bones rather than the ears. Through stereoscopes that transform archival photographs into three-dimensional scenes, visitors can explore ten personal, seemingly ordinary stories and experience audio testimonies in the form of short radio drama excerpts, revealing how the ways in which society understands, preserves, and transmits knowledge evolve over time.

The Memory Bank is not just a story about the building’s history and scientific achievements; it is a narrator of the subtle and enduring relationships between science, technology, and everyday human life. The first impressions of visitors to the Memory Bank show remarkable interest and curiosity,” emphasizes Gordana Grabež, Program Director of the Palace of Science.

Gallery S.E.F. and the exhibition “Memory Bank” are open to adults, children, and young people, as well as teachers, researchers, anyone interested in the history of Belgrade and cultural heritage, and all those who wish to pause for a moment and reflect on the role of science in everyday life. Admission is free.
