Branko Simonović, science popularizer, and Teodora Savić, MSc in Molecular Biology and Physiology and science communicator at the Palace of Science.
What do we really know about life beyond Earth, and what can organisms that thrive where life “shouldn’t” exist teach us about that search?
This talk offers an introduction to astrobiology and extremophiles: an exciting, interdisciplinary field connecting astronomy, biology, chemistry, and geology in a shared quest to understand life in the universe.
A special segment will focus on extremophiles: microorganisms that survive in the harshest environments – inside volcanoes, across polar deserts of ice, in the ocean’s darkest depths, and within high-radiation zones.
In conversation with Branko Simonović and Teodora Savić, we’ll explore how studying these extraordinary forms of life helps scientists imagine where life might exist beyond our planet, and how our idea of “habitable conditions” keeps expanding.
The lecture will be held in Reč Hall. Admission is free, no registration required.
