What does it actually mean to nurture differences and diversity in contemporary society? Is cultural diversity a value in itself that we all take for granted, or is it a practice we must actively cultivate — and in some cases rebuild from the ground up?
In a time when the global market often favors the recognizable and the uniform, while cultural policies strive to preserve authenticity and diversity of expression, the question of diversity and its preservation becomes more complex than ever. Between local identity and global currents, between the visible and the marginalized, a space opens up for reflection: who has the right to a voice, and whose stories remain untold?
Drawing on concrete examples from local and European cultural practices and the challenges faced by contemporary cultural policies, the lecture will be delivered by Dimitrije Tadić, longtime manager of the Creative Europe programme in Serbia (2014–2023). As a reminder of the importance of intercultural dialogue, understanding, and the preservation of diversity, this lecture will be an opportunity to view cultural diversity as a living and dynamic process — rather than a fixed set of values that leaves no room for negotiation, collaboration, and accountability.
Admission is free and registration is not required.
