During April, the month in which we celebrate and reflect on our planet worldwide, Palace of Science is opening a space for a different kind of exploration. One that leads us through the traces we leave behind every day, often without much thought.
To understand the relationship between humans and the environment, for this workshop we will borrow the methodology and perspective of archaeology, a science that knows how to read stories about people through the remains of the past. But this time, we won’t be digging into the past, but into our own daily lives. What does our waste say about us? What habits, values, and patterns of behavior does it reveal?
Like archaeologists who carefully excavate and interpret fragments of former lives, workshop participants will analyze the remains of a modern urban family. Through teamwork, and with the help of Nemanja Pavlović and Simeun Srdanović from the Neozoic Foundation, as well as discussion, we will discover similarities and differences in lifestyles, the use of resources, carbon footprints, and our impact on the planet. This workshop is intended for everyone who wants to learn the basic principles, goals, and methods of archaeological research in an interesting and interactive way, while also reflecting on their own relationship with the Earth through personal examples. To better understand the world we live in, sometimes it is enough to look at what we discard.
The workshop is designed for children aged 7 to 12, and a maximum of 20 participants can join us in this adventure.
