Small Steps Through the Big City

mali-koraci-kroz-veliki-grad

How does the space in which we grow up and live shape our habits, sense of belonging, independence and quality of life? Are our cities designed to encourage exploration, play and healthy development, or are children’s needs overlooked in the planning process?

As part of the Palace of Science’s June programme, dedicated to children and contemporary conditions of growing up, our guest is Professor Milan Đurić, architect and full professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade. He will speak about the role of architecture and urban planning in creating a stimulating environment for children and young people.
Through examples from research and professional practice, the lecture will open important questions about how kindergartens, schools, public spaces, neighbourhoods and cities influence development, integration processes, a sense of community and the everyday life of families.
We will discuss how the spaces we create affect the way we play, learn, socialise and grow up, as well as why thinking about the city from a child’s perspective can contribute to a better quality of life for all of us.

The lecture is intended for everyone who believes that the space we live in shapes the society we build. Admission is free and registration is not required. Admission is free and registration is not required.
