When Water Changes Everything (and the World)

In this lecture on natural disasters and floods, we will explore these phenomena from a scientific perspective and consider whether they are truly “natural” or sometimes influenced by human activity.

You will learn how climate change and global warming are altering weather patterns, leading to increasingly frequent extreme weather events and heavy rainfall that threaten lives and property worldwide. Are floods merely rising water, or do they also bring waves of disease and viruses?

Through an analysis of causes and consequences, we will uncover how global warming destabilizes the climate and which factors further accelerate this dangerous trend. The lecture will confront us with key challenges while also offering solutions and strategies to mitigate the impact of natural disasters and better prepare for future crises.
