The Ministry of Education and the Miodrag Kostić Endowment signed a Cooperation Agreement

Belgrade, 25 October 2024 – The Ministry of Education and the Miodrag Kostić Endowment signed a Cooperation Agreement at this year's Education Fair, which is being held in Belgrade. The planned cooperation will be implemented within the Palace of Science and aimed at the development and improvement of the education system, especially in the area of ​​preschool, primary, secondary and higher education. It will also include support in the organization of camps for primary and secondary school students in the Palace of Science, excursion visits, teaching, extracurricular and other educational activities. In the field of higher education, cooperation will contribute to the creation of conditions for the development of research centers at faculties in Serbia.

„I believe that the Palace of Science will inspire many to follow the path of science and discover their talents and that many young scientists will assert themselves and change the world with their knowledge, as Tesla, Milanković, and Pupin did. Primary and secondary school students will have the opportunity to attend various camps and programs that will contribute to the development of their talents, but also improve the educational process, as well as extracurricular activities. Cooperation with higher education institutions will further strengthen young researchers, creating space for future generations that will shape our scientific scene," said Prof. Slavica Đukić Dejanović, PhD., Minister of Education in the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

„By signing this Agreement, it is our desire to bring new knowledge to pupils and students of all educational institutions in Serbia. All school ages will have the opportunity to discover the researcher in themselves in the Palace of Science through numerous interesting and interactive exhibits, as well as conversations with researchers and discovering what it's like to work in real modern research centers. We believe that this cooperation will provide strong support for the development of educational programs in Serbia and that it will enable all people, especially the new generations, to understand the scientific method of discovering and drawing conclusions about the world and how they can implement such knowledge in any field they are about to pursue", said Nemanja Đorđević, Manager of the Miodrag Kostić Endowment.

The Cooperation Agreement, which was signed with the Ministry of Education, will provide the opportunity to organize events of importance for the promotion of education and science in the premises of the Palace of Science.

In addition to more than 30 interactive exhibits, the Palace of Science will also house 19 research centers managed by professors from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Belgrade. As part of the Education Fair, work equipment that will be used in the Center for 3D Sound and the Center for Multimodal Biomedical Engineering was exclusively presented. Miloš Bjelic, PhD., Assistant Professor at the Department of Telecommunications, presented a platform for measuring the directionality of sound sources and a binaural concept for experiencing 3D sound, and this technique is often used in virtual reality, movies and audio tours. Prof. Milica Janković, PhD., associate professor at the Department of Signals and Systems, who manages the Center for Multimodal Biomedical Engineering, demonstrated the installation of a 32-channel system for surface recording of brain signals, while all visitors had the opportunity to try smart headphones for recording brain signals.
